Every semester, JMU puts on a convocation concert, commonly reffered to as a "convo show". This semester, University Program Board finally stepped away from rap and went with rock, much to my extreme pleasure. Since it is my last semester, I really wanted to go to the convo show. UPB brought Boys Like Girls and Cute is What We Aim for, a band I had heard of but not listened to. After listening to them, I decided I liked them, and I had already liked Boys Like Girls. So I swiftly contacted Brad and told him of the exciting event, to which he said, sign me up. Soon we had out tickets and were counting down the days til the show. I also informed Cheecho, Gary's girlfriend about the show, knowing she loves Boys Like Girls. They also purchased tickets, so we all met up for dinner before the show.
The show began with Friday Night Boys, whose lead singer is a senior here at JMU. That has got to be such a badass feeling, attending convo shows your first 3 years at college, and then in your final year, you get to perform at a convo show! They were pretty decent for where they were in their careers, but they didn't sound too stand outish. Next up was this "band" called Lights. The lead singer was a chick with a keytar, or as Bret says, "guitboard". There was also a drummer and a synth player. Don't get me wrong, I fully support the guitboard/keytar in organized bands, but a synth dude instead of bass/guitar, I want and expect real instruments from a convo show. Cute is What We Aim For was pretty good live, but many others would disagree. Boys Like Girls was AWESOME!!! They sounded waaaaaaay harder than they do on their album. I hope they finish up this college tour with great haste and swiftly move to the studio for album #2. I loved their cover of the Frou Frou song "Let Go", and "Great Escape" was PHENOMENAL live, just as I expected. Also, the multitude of highschoolers in attendance who were not old enough to vote expressed great delight when encouraged to vote, it was funny. Also, the kids who had to leave because it was past their bed time made me laugh as well. I don't have much more to say about the convo show, other than Caitlin and I had a date at the merch tables, and Brad expressed great disapproval of my use of the word merch, as he does at any show we attend together. That's all I have for now, I think. Until next time.

Free Falling
This entry is entitled Free Falling because that is the song playing on my ipizzle right now. Yes, I did just say ipizzle. I am feeling extra gangsta today. Ever since Thursday at work, when we talked about forming a McAlister's Gang (this is just a thought with an attempt at sentance structure). Basically, the M-Crew would get drunk, go to Hams, and throw up M shaped gang signs and cause trouble. I was all set and ready to go right after work, but sadly we do not have a gang. I am getting sick now, as of Friday, due to a compliation of causes (go alliteration!):
- Brad came to visit and was sick, so being around him for 3 seconds caused me to catch his super contagious child disease.
- The weather suddenly shifted from very nice and warm to very chilly and wet. This is never good for me, and almost always causes me to get sick and I do not like it.
- Mark, my roomate and former "I'm in Your House, Call Me" super fan is sick with the same symptoms, and even though he works a lot and is not around, his germs are.
Now it is homework time, and I would like to finish it before my pizza arrives, YUM

Weather turns cold
I am not a fan of this sudden onset of fall weather. Just because the calendar says its fall does not mean the weather should immediately follow suit. What happened to the days when fall would slowly happen, and the temperature change was not as drastic. Maybe it's just Harrisonburg, I dunno. All I'm saying is, if you can't wear shorts until halfway through October, what kind of world are we living in?

Keymaster
Today I went to get copies of my mailbox key made. Home Despot was my first choice because I like the flair, orange aprons, and usually friendly environment. Today, Brandon, whos pink shirt clashed horribly with his neon apron, decided he knew how to copy keys. I decided he didn't know how to copy keys. His first attempt ends in failure, then he consults Ray, the marine-turned lock smith-turned Home Despot guru. Ray tells Brandon the correct key to use, but unfortunately, the key copies in the wrong direction. I then enlist the help of Mark 2.0 to help me obtain the true key (Mark 2.0 is a sweet robot from the future, he has Data's super intelligence and T-1000's lethality). Soooooo,we return to Home Despot and tell Ray the key is backwards, so he points us in the direction of a true lock smithery. This place is in down town Harrisonburg, old, filled with all kinds of keys, and does not take debit/credit cards. The lock smithery does, however, hook us up with the correct keys and we return home most triumphant.
Career Fair
Yesterday was Career Fair at JMU. I got all dressed up in a suit and went around to talk to "professionals" about acquring the all important "good job" after college. There were tons of strategies about how to attack Career Fair: research ahead of time so you know what you want, look at all of one type of business, talk to the hottest womens, or talk to the people with the best treasures. The lepprechaun inside of me took over and went for the treasures, and it worked! I got some pretty good leads for jobs, however, I also learned that recruiters are very adept at very little, other than saying, "Here's our facts sheet, go on to our website for more information". I don't remember most of the companies I talked to, but the treasures I have retained all have company names on them, so I should be ok. Next step in the job process is to get some interviews.
This is what career fair looked like, everyone in suits.
DISCLAIMER: Brad, Jason, and Chris Cooley did not attend career fair.

A New Blog
After talking with Chris Cooley, I decided to start blogging. I figured, if Perez Hilton can become some super blogger, why can't I? Also, since the Turkey Pitt is no more and we have all gone our separate ways, kinda like the Journey song, I decided to keep an online journal of sorts of my misadventures. Stay tuned for upcoming posts, especially when I have homework due.
